So - I am in Tucson and noticing a few promising changes -- more bicycling and a hybrid bus is making the news....way to go Tucson! I'd personally love to see a lot more public transportation in Oro Valley - where my elderly mom lives. I'd also like to see less strip malls....is it me, or is the desert treated like a waste land?
I ponder the culture of thinking - from the citizen to the policy leader. When does our species honor our planet, not as a commodity, but as a place we are all a part of? So many single occupancy vehicles here driving on 8 lane roads. I was listening to William McDonough talk about photovoltaics as ribbons on road ways - imagine - how much energy could the road systems in southern Arizona supply? Enough to stop this nonsense about off shore drilling and nuclear power plants?
